When talking to a suicidal person you should be yourself and listen to the person. Most of the time someone just wants another person to listen to them. It’s important to let the suicidal person know that they are not alone and you are there for them. You should also be sympathetic, non-judgmental, patient, calm and accepting to the person.
When talking to a suicidal person you should NOT start an argument with them or act shocked in something they say. You shouldn’t say that suicide is wrong or “you have so much to live for”. Also, don’t offer ways to fix their problems.
