Living With Down Syndrome

Through research and my own personal experience working with children, along with knowing adults, who are diagnosed with Down Syndrome live normal lives and have the same life expectancy as individuals who are not diagnosed with Down Syndrome. Some cases are more severe than others, but overall I found the characteristics of a person diagnosed with Down syndrome to be very loving, happy, caring and overall just loving life individuals who can instantly put a smile on your face. I previously stated in my definition of Down syndrome the behavioral issues, along with delayed development and the intellectual disability, although this is all true, it does not prevent anyone from living a normal life such as having an education, being involved in sports, creating strong friendships, and getting married. People living with Down Syndrome can reach their full potential in these categories of life with the help and support of their family, friends, community, local schools, and health care.
