LGBTQIA+ Health Care

Receiving medical assistance is essential for everyone, however those that are in the queer community can have a more difficult time finding help and also feeling safe enough to seek medical help. In the video below they mention that 75% of lesbians were hesitant and delayed receiving health care for fear of discrimination. It is also evident that those that are transgender are discriminated against because of their gender identity and are also unable to have their transition costs covered by insurances because it isn’t seen as a real “medical necessity.” These kinds of issues are not only detrimental to physical health, but also mental health. The video also touches on issues that LGBTQIA+ parents, particularly those in homosexual relationships, face when needing to get treatment for themselves and also their children. It also provides many anecdotes of peoples experience in the medical field
