Happy Friday!

I want to start focusing on the specific effects that exercise has on mental health. For this post I choose, exercise and sleep.

Our bodies need sleep in order to be able to function properly the next day. However, the amount of sleep we need can very depending on age. This goes along with the amount of exercise our bodies need. For example,

“The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute recommends at least 11-12 hours for preschool-aged children, 10 hours for school-aged children, 9-10 hours for teens and 7-8 hours for adults.”

If you are finding it hard to sleep at night, try exercising. Sometimes our bodies have too much energy when we are trying to fall asleep, so even just 30 minutes of exercise a day can help! Below is a link that I provided that talks about the specifics of getting enough sleep and enough exercise. I hope some of you find this helpful, as I know the weekend is when we typically like to catch up on our sleep!
