Throughout my blog posts I have written about some of the benefits of pet therapy and the use of animals to help people both emotionally and physically. With the use of animals around people, especially those that are sick, certain requirements should be upheld to make sure both the patient and the animal are safe. In the article presented, The Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) discusses rules that should be followed when dealing with animals in a hospital setting. Some requirements include that the dog should be at least one year old and their behavior should be evaluated before going to the hospital. Also, the people in charge of the animal should reason some type of training. I hope you enjoy the article and are able the learn about the specific guidelines.
