What a lot of you do not know is that eating disorders is something that has affected my family personally. My older sister was diagnosed with anorexia when she was 15 and she suffered with it for about 6 years. It almost took her life, but luckily she was able to get the help she needed and was able to recover. Through the time she suffering with this disease, she changed significantly. You could tell she was not her normal self. She was not always there and alot of times it was like talking to a child. What i did not know, is that this disorder was affecting her development. It was causing her brain to stop functioning, and her social and emotional skills were not at the level she was supposed to be. Instead of acting like a 17 year old she acted as though she was acting like a 15 year old. Even though she got help it took a very long time for her to get her development back to normal, and even now she is still trying to get it up to where it should be. This showed me that this disease can take more then what you think, and I think people really need to be more aware of what this disease does. Thank you!
